Things I've used:

gold chains, fabric, studs to sew, thread, beads

check it out here 

Cut the fabric in 3 strip and weave to a braid.

Then I  sew the braid on my gold chain. 

Sew the beads and studs on it &

attach the clasp to the ends of the chain.
